Let's be safe in this HOT weather
Stay cool
- Spend more time in air conditioned places. If you don't have air conditioning, go and visit someone who does .
- Dress in lightweight clothing.
- Take a cool shower or bath, or place cool washcloths on your skin.
Drink lots of liquids:
- Drink plenty of water. Please try and avoid drinks with caffeine, alcohol and large amounts of sugar because they can actually de-hydrate your body.
- Did we say drink plenty of water?
If you go outside:
- Limit the time you're in direct sunlight.
- Never leave infants, children, and pets in a parked car, even with the window rolled down. Remember its about 10 times hotter in that car than it is outside.
- Try and make outdoor activities in the cooler morning and evening hours.
- Avoid sunburn. Use a sunscreen lotion with a high SPF rating.
