AfterSuquamish Encapsulation
Previous customer Paul C. called us to take a look at a home his mother was purchasing in Suquamish, Washington. He wanted us to repair and upgrade the crawlspace with the same products we used in his home. After a complete clean out of the existing insulation and ground cover, we installed interior drainage as needed to direct ground water intrusion to a new SmartSump system. We also installed drainage matting and TerraBlock flexible foam insulation over the ground, followed by the CleanSpace 20 mil encapsulation system. SilverGlo rigid foam insulation was installed on the interior of the foundation walls as well as in the rim joist. Finally a Sani-Dry Sedona dehumidifier and air filtration system was installed to keep the air in the crawlspace dry and conditioned.

About the Owner
Gale Culbert
With over 35 years experience in the residential construction field as a builder and remodeler, Gale Culbert has a thorough understanding of basement waterproofing and moisture control. After much research, involvement in education and "Green Building" techniques, he partnered with Basement Systems to provide the CleanSpace® suite of products and solutions in the Pacific Northwest.
He has earned three designations granted by the National Association of Homebuilders and is locally recognized as a leader in education & green building techniques. He has also been thoroughly trained certified through the Basement Systems International Waterproofing Contractor Network. He is a trusted and valued member of the network and brings high standards to the organization.
In his spare time, Gale enjoys traveling, playing golf and with Lori, training their yellow labs Misty and Molly.
Our Story
It was through the prism of old-world craftsmanship and new age science that we discovered the Basement Systems "CleanSpace® Encapsulation System" at the International Builders Show in 1999. The crawl space encapsulation system filled a void in the construction practices and needed to be a part of our building program. It addressed all the problems typically associated with damp, dingy, "code-compliant" dirt crawl spaces. The vapor barrier system also had the added benefit of increased energy efficiency.
Since the early beginnings of the crawlspace repair industry, we have been a leader in the Pacific Northwest. Formerly a division of Ironwood Builders Inc., in 2003 we transitioned into a full-scale Basement Systems Dealer offering basement waterproofing, basement finishing systems, crawlspace and foundation repair, insulation systems, and moisture control.
